Those which follow what is... by mashina Those which follow what is... by mashina
For all those out there, use always your own head. You don't need someone to tell you what to do with your lives.

Full title is "Those which follow what is cool... end burning themselves."

Developed from a previous illustration I did for a band. All source material from personal stocks.

It's an interesting message and one to bear in mind and I like the message and the way you've conveyed it but no matter how individual they may be humans will always group together in herds of those of a like or similar mind and individuals will nearly always find those of a like mind to join them or vicea versa. Thus people may feel they have to be 'more different' to continue to be individual.

People should not be told what to do or be told to follow trends for the sake of fitting in but there will always be similar people and they are therefore no longer wholly individual in their thoughts and methods of expression, something you have to accept.

I would summarise and say I'd add the notion of not being different and shunning trends and what is cool just for difference's sake...to be cool. Individuality should not be pursued as a cry for attention at the expense of happiness.

god damn scene kids...sorry when I think of people following something they think is cool, I think of 14 scene kids wondering the mall with friends talking about mainstream shitty bands. (I have a profound hatred for them). Its because of kids like them that no one can dress differently (you can still be different on the inside and they can never take that away) cause if you wear tight pants, your scene, if you wear a studded belt, your scene, if you have checkered shoes, your scene, band t-shirts, your scene. They've managed to take things from metal and punk and warp it into a diluted piece of shit. I'm all for dressing differently and expressing yourself, but when people make being an individual conformist, we've lost the game.

great piece of art you have there. It invoked quite a few emotions about how people follow what they don't fully understand or care to comprehend. Even if that isn't what you were aiming for, everyone can find their own meaning in a piece of art.

Who are YOU telling? Everyone acts like the best person to be like is the person right next to them or that "one guy/girl" on TV. Excellent work and well said.
